Hops: Magnum, Raspberries, Blueberries, Blackberries.
Malt: Best Pale, Crystal 150, Caraffa III, Chocoate, Oats.

Earlier this summer I was lucky enough to travel to New York to visit some of our friends. We decided to head to Long Island to visit Barrier brewing. As soon as I set foot through the door Mike had pulled out a beer and as soon as I saw it I reached into my bag and also pulled out a beer. We both made beers named “Kapow!”, that was the moment we decided we had to make a hybrid! Smashing our two Kapow!’s together we got “Kronk!” an 8% double IPA. We brewed with them at their place in the US. We wanted to get our hands on it in the UK so it we invited them over.

As they were coming over with our beer we wanted to spread the love across the UK. So we had the idea of taking it on tour! With the limited time we had them in the country, the route began to take shape with some of the legendary beer bars of the UK! Dead Crafty - Liverpool, Cafe Beermoth - Manchester, North Bar - Leeds, Mother Kelly’s - London and SmallBar - Bristol.


Along with North, Left Handed Giant and Top Rope, we managed to squeeze in a collab whilst we travelled around. With Kronk as a reference we wanted to make a paired contrast to what we brewed over in the US. So we decided on a Stout that still had the fruity characteristics of Kronk. So what better than to add some dark fruits that would compliment the chocolatey roasted stout. We went for Raspberry, Blueberry and Blackberry. The sharp fruit soften the rich roast, chocolate, sweet stout base, and the effervescence bursts with the fruity chocolate aromas.

It’s been an absolute pleasure to be able to brew with the gang from Barrier and we had a lot of fun travelling around the UK with them. It really was a great experience to be able to meet everyone, we got a really warm reception. We’ll be looking forward to more experiences to be able to learn more about the ways they brew in the future.
